The
process to find the next generation of OSYSA’s State, Regional and National
team players will begin at the district sites during the fall training/identification
sessions. Please see the ODP section of the OSYSA web site (www.osysa.com)
for times, locations, details, player registration as well as coaching
opportunities.
The
ODP’s primary mission is to identify the best players in the country for
youth and senior World Cups and Olympic competition. Emphasizing the success
of this process over the years, every member of the 2004 Women’s Olympic
Team roster was a product of the US Youth Soccer Olympic
Development Program.
A secondary
purpose of ODP is to develop both players and coaches for levels who may
not be at the ODP level, and it is this secondary purpose which best explains
why the state and regional team selection and training process is critical
to the continued growth of the game.
It is often noted in sport that there is no substitute for “being
there,” and experiencing the Regional Camp and appreciating
the demands and expectations of elite level players is the primary goal
of the Developmental program.
OSYSA’s
ODP emphasis is on player development and using curriculum developed by
our State Director of Coaching, State ODP Staff and in conjunction with
inputs from our Regional and National teams staffs. ODP implements
these age appropriate training theories through the entire process to players
both at the District and State level. OSYSA strongly feels
the training and development part of our program is vital to the continued
development of our players and our program. |
