About the Olympic Development Program...
The Ohio South Olympic Development Program was created to foster the development of young players at all ages. Players initially compete at the District Level and then advance to State Team Tryouts. Those players who are selected to the Ohio South State Team then compete at the Regional level. Players selected to the Regional Team represent Region II at the National Level. More Information....

Recommendations from US National Team Women's Coach Greg Ryan:
Coaches:

1. Use time and energy to focus on technical development
2. Try to do everything in a game format instead of a drill format
3. Reduce the number of rules and restrictions on players.  Encourage them to make the correct decision with the ball based on what the game is giving them
4. Realize that players learn by doing and that means refrain from interrupting all of the time. We can help them, but we have to encourage them to find the solutions
5. Coach in the game....feel free to get in the middle of the field and help individual players with decisions without stopping flow of the game
6. Encourage players to express themselves in the field...take risks...be creative...encourage them to find ways to solve pressure individually
7. Let them experiment and learn from what works and what does not
8. We must remove some support and structure in order for the next generation to “feel” the game rather than to be directed  to do exactly what a coach wants them to do.  This is an instinctive game...Let’s find a way to give the game back to the players...that is how they will enjoy it most and play the best!

2006 Dustin Michael Thompson Scholarship
As a part of the Dustin M. Thompson Memorial Fund, Ohio South Youth Soccer Association and the Thompson Family will be awarding one $1000.00 scholarship annually to a graduating senior who meets specific criteria.
